The picturesque 490-acre Lake Tangipahoa with its full-service marina is ideal for fishing, boating, water, and jet skiing. Anglers come to the lake to hook Florida bass, redear sunfish, bluegill, and white crappie. There is a fish cleaning station close to the boat launch and 36 boat slips.  


Camping

The park has several camping options to choose from that range from full hookup RV campsites to primitive tent camping. The tent sites are in beautiful scenic wooded areas with spectacular views of the lake. There are also lakefront campsites close to the water, each with a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. All the camping areas have bathhouses with showers and flush toilets nearby.


2. Hiking in the Lincoln State Park

Explore the boyhood home of Abraham Lincoln on miles of trails that cut through the densely forested hills and run along two scenic lakes. The 1,747-acre Lincoln State Park has six multi-purpose trails that are suited to all skill levels.


Lake Trail

The 1.5-mile Lake Trail is an easy scenic hike that winds around the south shore of the lake. The trail runs past the dam and back to the beach area.


The John Carter Trail

The moderate 2.1-mile long trail cuts through beautiful pine trees and passes an old strip mine before connecting with the Lake Trail.


Sarah Lincoln Grigsby Trail

Hike through the breathtaking Sarah Lincoln Woods Nature Preserve on the moderate 1.7-mile Sarah Lincoln Grigsby Trail. The trail meanders past indigenous prairie plants and up steep slopes.


The James Gentry Trail

The trail is a moderate 3.7-mile hike along the northern border of the park. It runs to the James Gentry home. As a young man, Lincoln worked at the Gentry Store.


Mr. Lincoln’s Neighborhood Walk

Go on Mr. Lincoln’s Neighborhood Walk for 1.7 miles past the Little Pigeon Primitive Baptist Church and the grave of Sarah Lincoln Grigsby, the Gorden Home, and Mill sites.


Weber Lake Trail

Hike for 1.8 miles through a pine grove and stands of trees to Weber Lake. The lake supports wetland plant and animal species, and you will spot an abundance of wildlife along the way.


3. Golfing on 18-Hole Championship Golf Courses

There are three superb golf courses in the area that offer a variety of golfing opportunities. The Brookhaven Country Club provides fantastic golfing on their 18-hole course with all the amenities required, including a stocked pro golf shop and a driving range. The 18-hole championship Wolf Hollow Golf Course on the Copiah-Lincoln Community College campus has a fully stocked pro shop and premier practice facilities.

Quail Hollow Golf Course in the beautiful Percy Quin State Park is another 18-hole championship course in the breathtaking Southern Mississippi countryside suited for every skill level with a range of signature holes.
